Member credit unions who receive the Juntos Avanzamos designation are recognized for serving and educating the Latino community on its journey to financial independence. This program was developed by Cornerstone Credit Union League in Texas and is expanding nationally to meet this demand.
Seattle Credit Union is the first credit union in Seattle and the second credit union in the state of Washington to be accepted into this program.
As a member of the “Together We Advance” family of credit unions, Seattle Credit Union has demonstrated that we:
Early in 2017, Seattle Credit Union received the designation Juntos Avanzamos (Together We Advance) for our commitment to serve and educate the Hispanic community about financial independence. To date, we’re one of just 70 credit unions across the country to receive this accreditation from the National Credit Union Federation.
In July of 2017, we were granted a low-income designation by the National Credit Union Administration. The designation comes with regulatory benefits to help us better serve those most in need of banking services— those with fewer check cashing, savings or loan resources, or are in need of greater financial education.
Immigrants are a large and vibrant part of the US economy, yet they remain largely underserved by banks and are vulnerable to predatory financial services. Seattle Credit Union is changing that. We recognize and treasure this community’s innumerable contributions to our city and our state. The Juntos Avanzamos designation is external validation of our credit union’s values and efforts to help the Latino community prosper. We’ve always celebrated our role in giving back and are proud to serve as a vital financial resource for this community.
Seattle Credit Union is here to change lives and make a social impact. To do this, we need to leverage the strengths found in our differences, histories, and cultures. We know that inclusion leads to prosperity for all. And while prosperity is a different dream for each one of us, Seattle Credit Union is committed to bringing it to life for all communities.
